General admissions requirements

Ashesi's academic year begins in late August and runs through May. Ashesi's application is fairly demanding compared to other institutions in Ghana.  We therefore advise applicants to begin the application process early.

  • Grades in secondary school, strength of secondary school curriculum, class rank.
  • For serious consideration, one of the following is required: Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) scores of 20 or better; A-Level examination scores; International Baccalaureate (IB) examination scores; or Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) scores
  • Extra-curricular activities
  • Essays (see Ashesi University's application form)
  • Recommendations
  • Interview (by invitation only)
  • International students for whom English is a second language must demonstrate English language proficiency by submitting TOEFL examination scores.

Prospective applicants residing in Accra are strongly advised to visit our campus (see directions).  A visit to campus gives you an opportunity to speak with the faculty, staff and students of Ashesi University, and thus gives you a better sense of the Ashesi community.
