How do I connect to a student printer? I use a windows machine.

In the search panel type : \\192.168.20.7 Press enter

A prompt will pop up asking for your username and password.

input: ashesi\username then your password click ok to connect

There will be pop-up showing available student printers

Connect to whichever one you prefer.

After selecting the printer, a prompt will pop-up asking to install the printer drivers. Click install to proceed

Windows will show a pop-up indicating that the printer has been connected.

 

 

How do I check my student print account?

To check left-over print credit:

1) Visit this site: http://invece.ashesi.local:9191/app.

2) Type in your user name and password.

3) Under the summary tab, if your balance is $0.00, you have no print credit left.

Please note that this can only be done on campus

 

My print account is empty how do I get a refill?

Speak to any of the receptionist at the front desk of the administration office about how much printing credit you wish to buy. A receipt will be issued once you make payment. Present this receipt at the IT office for a refill of your account.

 

For expired password:

1. Try logging on to any of the computers available to you (computer labs, Library or official computer assigned to you if you are staff or faculty).

2. Once you logon using current password, you will be notified to reset your password.

3. Fill in the appropriate information to reset your password [your password cannot be a previously used one within the last 6 months nor can it be shorter than six characters]

4. Once that is done, you can proceed to use your new password.

 

If you have forgotten your password:

1. Go to the IT department.

2. Speak to any IT staff member available and make a formal report.

3. You will be given a temporary password.

4. Please logon to any available computers in (Computer labs, Library or officially assigned computers) using the temporary password given.

5. You will be notified to reset immediately.

6. Once that is done, you can proceed to use your new password.

 

My mail box is full how do I empty it?

1. You will first need to back-up the content of you mail box.

2. After backing up, you can then proceed to delete items in your mail box.

this will free-up space, at the same time, you do not lose any important mail.

 

How can I back up my e-mail?

1. Launch Outlook (Start > All Programs > Microsoft Office > Microsoft Office Outlook)

 

2. For outlook 2010 go to file = >Open

For older versions Go to file = > Import and Export...

3. Select Export to a file, click Next

 

4. Select Outlook data file (.pst), click Next

5. Select the folder that you want to back-up, (if it has sub-folders check include subfolders) then click next

6. Click Browse to indicate where you want to save the file (eg: Desktop), click Finish:

7. Rename to file (let the name correspond to the folder you selected to back-up eg: inbox):

8. Click OK

NOTE: This procedure applies to Microsoft Outlook 2010 and earlier versions.

 

How do I connect to the wireless network?

1. Please ensure that your Wi-Fi is turned on

2. Connect to any of the available wireless networks on campus

3. A prompt will come up requiring the security key. Please enter the security key to connect.

NB: if you are new to the Ashesi community and so do not have the security key, please pass-by the IT office for help.

 

How do I connect to webmail?

To connect to web mail visit:

If you are on-campus, use On-webmail

If you are off-campus, use Off-webmail

 

How do I connect to focus?

To connect to Focus, please visit:

on-campus, use http://sis.ashesi.local for speed.

off-campus, use http://sis.ashesi.edu.gh.

 

How do I connect to Courseware?

To connect to Courseware, please visit:

on-campus, use http://sis.ashesi.local for speed.

Can I connect to the S-drive when using my Laptop?

Yes it is possible to connect to your s-drive when using your PC.

Please follow these steps.

Connecting to s-drive on your Laptop

1. Go to Computer or My Computer depending on which version of windows you are using.

2. Then select map network drive.

3. In the text box please enter the following, replacing class with your year and username with your Ashesi username. \\ash-ds-001\student share$\Class\username

4. Click finish to connect.

5. There will be a pop-up requiring your username and password.

6. Enter your username and password then click ok to finish the process.

NB: You can have access to your s-drive only when you are on campus
