Injaro Investments Ltd experience

Derrick Darkwah
Class of 2012 BA

This was my first real internship in a company that fits my career option and I was eager to learn and apply most of the class concepts in the investment industry. My expectations were to gain hands-on experience of corporate investment decisions, the models used and the interactions among employees. Fortunately Injaro specializes in Private Equity investments which was new to me but turned out to be very exciting and challenging. The atmosphere at Injaro was one of mutual respect, creativity, encouragement and lots of hard work. I did not for once feel like an intern because much was expected of me by my supervisor in handling portfolios. The small size of the workforce at Injaro made me feel relevant in that I could access how my work impacted the whole organization. With regular mentoring from all my senior supervisors, the relay of feedback on work, attitudes and values, as well as the varied opportunities to interact with professionals, Injaro shaped and reinforced my career path. Although I sometimes had to stay up late to finish some reports that were due and struggle to make some investee companies understand the essence of documentation for my reports, among other things, my internship was one great and satisfying experience. I am really glad to have applied through the career services of Ashesi University College for such an invaluable experience in the corporate world.
